A historic Art Nouveau residence in the heart of the Monregalese Langhe
By Teresa Cremona
An Art Nouveau residence that retains the elegance of a private home and the charm of a period villa, it is situated in a panoramic position, on a hill, both central and secluded at the same time. From the windows, the view encompasses the surrounding hills, the main square of Vicoforte which is only 50 meters away, and above all, the monumental elliptical dome (said to be the largest in the world with such a shape) of the Sanctuary of Vicoforte.
The house was lovingly restored by Riccardo and Elena, a young couple, she an architect, he an entrepreneur.
The initial investment plan included real estate subdivision, small apartments to be sold, but the
character and uniqueness of the building convinced them to instead make it a charming residence.
A welcome that was intended to be carefully curated and distinctive, but it is the smiling courtesy of the hosts that completes the hospitality of this address.
Only 9 rooms, all different, all furnished with period furniture, each piece carefully selected, of Piedmontese or Provençal origin. In each room, a beautiful French marble fireplace, an antique chest of drawers patinated by time, a wardrobe like those of a grandmother, and then beautiful fabrics, mirrors, and ornaments, prints, paintings, silverware, and crystals that sparkle without redundancy and add warmth and complete the rooms in harmony with the style of the house.
On the first floor, there is a large terrace that in summer becomes an outdoor living room, where you can enjoy an aperitif and wait for the sunset while the large dome stands out against the sky that slowly changes color.
On the ground floor, the portico with romantic-style wicker furniture and the breakfast room, which is essentially the living room of the house, with a glass wall overlooking the Langhe hills.
Because we are in the Monregalese Langhe, very close to Mondovì, and within a twenty-kilometer radius, you can find the grand Royal Castle of Casotto or the millennial Charterhouse of Pesio. From here, sports enthusiasts can quickly reach the Mondolè Ski area, with the resorts of Prato Nevoso, Artesina, and Frabosa Soprana, or Savona in half an hour by car.
Shopping can be done at the Mondovicino Outlet and adventure lovers can fly in a hot air balloon with John Aimo Balloons.
It is a stopover that enjoys the charm of a destination untouched by tourism, allowing for a stay that follows paths of many interests, from art to food and wine, from nature to shopping, and from here the Langhe of Asti and Barolo are just a few kilometers away.
